What Actually
Happened.
25+ years of getting involved. Here's the paper trail.
The Agency Years
BEN Marketing Group / OgilvyAction · Stamford, CT
Started as a production artist. Learned everything the hard way. Worked my way up through senior designer and art director to production manager — all at the same agency, which either means I was really good or really comfortable. Clients included Holiday Inn Hotels, Coca-Cola, Murray Biscuit Company, InterContinental Hotels Group, and DuPont. Big brands, tight deadlines, zero shortcuts.
Out on My Own
Freelance · Monroe, CT
Traded the agency for a home office. Logo design, catalogs, websites, trade show materials, email campaigns — if it needed designing, I designed it. Built long-term relationships with Torrco, Milestone Science, MBC Interactive, and a donut company in Kansas City that I still think about.
The Subway Detour
Contract · Milford, CT
A brief but educational chapter involving a lot of bread scoring diagrams, employee playbooks, and vending machine graphics. Not glamorous. Extremely precise. Would do it again.
Where It Gets Interesting
Blackstone Industries · Bethel, CT
Joined a small manufacturing company and promptly got involved in everything. Packaging across six brands. Trade show materials. Influencer strategy, web tools built with AI that became the most visited pages on the site. A drag-and-drop lab layout builder. E-commerce across four platforms. A 100th anniversary kit. Also somehow became the marketing department — planning campaigns, growing organic audiences across email, social, and digital without spending a dime on paid media. It's a lot. I like it that way.
